Conveniently located between Gretna and Marrero, Harvey is home to the West Bank's busiest retail corridor Manhattan Boulevard. Housing a variety of big box stores, as well as locally owned shops and restaurants, it is a location visited by residents throughout the parish. From simple ranch-style homes, to large houses on golf courses, Harvey's diverse neighborhoods provide an array of lifestyles.

Harvey showcases diverse housing and employment for many types of people. Residents can choose from upscale homes along golf courses and country club communities or more modest residences for younger families. The community of Harvey has something for everyone.

Arts & Culture
Manhattan Boulevard is a commerce hub that features an eclectic mix of mom-and-pop shops as well as national chains. On Manhattan Boulevard you will find the newly developed Fountain Park Centre, a 20-acre shopping and dining area, spotted with ponds, lakes, and a mix of chain stores and local businesses.

Harvey has a number of national chain restaurants, but of note is Boomtown Casino, which regularly features live music, upscale dining, and of course gambling. It's also just a short drive into New Orleans, where many Harvey residents like to go out in the French Quarter or the downtown neighborhoods.

Stonebridge Golf and Country Club is minutes from downtown, and is a 27-hole, scenic, links-style course showcasing canals, bayous, and waterfowl. Also, located near Cypress Street, is Kings Grant Playground, featuring open space and baseball fields that house a number of youth programs. There are numerous public parks, including: Martin Luther King, Jr. Park and Harvey Park, where you can enjoy fresh air and the outdoors.

There are three elementary schools in Harvey offering pre-Kindergarten classes through the fifth grade and two high schools.

High School students usually attend West Jefferson High School, a public school that seeks to prepare students for college life. West Jefferson High also has a strong athletic program. Many students also commute to private schools in the area.
