Educational Opportunities in St. Bernard Parish

St. Bernard Parish Public Schools are recognized as being part of a top-performing school district for both student achievement and teacher effectiveness and was recognized by AdvancED, a national third-party accreditation firm, for being “among the best districts in the nation.”

St. Bernard students consistently rank in the top 10 throughout the state on end of course exams. As the parish’s distinguished public high school, Chalmette High serves over 1,800 students and this past year, graduating seniors earned over $12 million in scholarships, and 75% earned an Industry Based Certificate.

Additionally, the Maumus Center, a planetarium and interactive science facility, opened in summer 2017 to wide student acclaim. In addition to having a nationally recognized public school system, St. Bernard Parish is home to Nunez Community College, which offers more than 30 academic and technical programs heavily guided by business and industry leaders.
