According to the national website Niche, the St. Charles Parish Public School System is ranked as the second-best school district statewide, maintaining an “A” rating from the Louisiana Department of Education. Additionally, the system ranked fourth nationally in the Digital School Districts Survey, conducted by the Center for Digital Education and the National School Boards Association, for the use of technology in education.

An Outdoor Lovers Paradise

St. Charles Parish is a natural setting for water sports of all kinds, boasting amazing fishing spots, hunting areas, and recreational lands such as the Bonnet Carré Spillway. Owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and operated by the St. Charles Parish Department of Parks & Recreation, the Spillway offers mountain bike trails, camping, canoeing, BMX trails, and birdwatching via the Orleans Loop of the Louisiana Birding Trail.

Additionally, numerous parks and playgrounds located throughout the parish feature baseball, softball, football, and soccer programs for kids and adults. Other recreational activities include country clubs, golf courses, private swimming pools, and tennis courts.

Biking enthusiasts enjoy access to the Mississippi River levee biking trails connecting to neighboring Jefferson Parish and to Audubon Park & Zoo in New Orleans.

Destrehan
Destrehan is a residential community centered around the Cypress Lakes Country Club.

Largely a commuter community, Destrehan features a nationally noted farmer’s market and an annual craft fair hosted at the nearby Destrehan Plantation. A large industrial presence in the parish also ensures a strong tax base supporting a top-ranked public school system.

Hahnville
Hahnville provides an affordable alternative to city life, with a strong sense of community.

Life in Hahnville offers a mix of suburban and rural landscapes, with plenty of outdoor activities to keep residents occupied and close to nature. As the seat of St. Charles Parish, Hahnville hosts an exciting fireworks show during the 4th of July.

Luling
A quiet, residential atmosphere is a hallmark of Luling.

With acres of sprawling space, it has become a popular spot for locals to build their dream home, with many new, state-of-the-art residences popping up on a regular basis. Multiple subdivisions provide outdoor activities and a sense of community for residents. The Hale Boggs Memorial Bridge connects Luling to Destrehan across the river, and is one of the region’s most iconic pieces of infrastructure.
