National WWII Museum
Designated by Congress as the official WWII museum of the United States, the National WWII Museum is located in downtown New Orleans on a six-acre campus, where five soaring pavilions house historical exhibits, on-site restoration work, a period dinner theater, and restaurants. The museum features immersive exhibits, multimedia experiences, and an expansive collection of artifacts and first-person oral histories, taking visitors inside the story of the war that changed the world. Beyond the galleries, the museum’s online collections, virtual field trips, webinars, educational travel programs, and renowned International Conference on World War II offer patrons new ways to connect to history.
Propeller
Propeller is a nonprofit organization that helps entrepreneurs grow their nonprofits and small businesses to tackle social and environmental disparities. At the heart of Propeller’s work is its Impact Accelerator, a free program designed to help startup and growth-stage entrepreneurs start, grow, and transform their businesses. Propeller further supports entrepreneurs through pitch competitions and access to its $1 million Social Impact Loan Fund, which makes loans to social entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs of color headquartered in Orleans Parish. In its 10,000 square foot Incubator building, Propeller offers a collaborative coworking space for more than 100 small business owners, nonprofit leaders, and community members, and rents out desks, offices, and event space.
Youth Empowerment Project
Founded in 2004, the Youth Empowerment Project (YEP) is a New Orleans-based nonprofit organization that annually engages more than 1,000 underserved children and young adults through community-based education, mentoring, and employment readiness programs to help them develop skills and strengthen ties to family and community. YEP’s programming includes but is not limited to: community reintegration for youth transitioning home from juvenile justice facilities; community mentoring for eight to 10 year-olds at risk for justice system involvement; case management for youth engaged in the juvenile justice system; adult education and high school equivalency preparation for out-of-school youth between the age of 16 and 24; post-secondary services for young adults pursuing employment or higher education; work & learn job training; and after-school and summer camp enrichment programs.
4.0 Schools
4.0 Schools invests coaching, community, curriculum, and cash in promising leaders to test tomorrow’s learning models with students and families in their local communities. 4.0 offers two fellowships designed to help leaders develop their ideas and build their leadership skills. Fellows receive access to a national community of supportive and bold leaders in education; targeted coaching from alumni experts; curriculum to help develop the leadership skills and design-thinking frameworks to take their ideas to the next level; and capital to help run small-scale experiences of their ideas in the community.
