Welcome to
Old Metairie!

Jefferson Parish
Elegant homes, both large and small, can be found on landscaped streets in this historic and affluent community. Evolving at the turn of the century as an alternative to the most expensive New Orleans, the high-end shops and restaurants along Old Metairie Road give this community a small-town feel, just a few miles away from the city.
Due to its excellent school system and reputation as a great place to raise a family, the prices for homes in Old Metairie typically run higher than surrounding neighborhoods. A recent look at real estate prices found the median home cost to be a little under $500,000, but there are deals to be found if one looks carefully at different properties in the area.

Arts & Culture

The Posh Paint Pub is an all-ages event space where people come together, eat and drink, and create excellent works of art. The instructors are lax and all about making sure everyone has a great time creating their own little piece of New Orleans art.

For those looking for the work of a more established artist, the Lampe Gallery of Fine Art has works from contemporary artists from New Orleans and beyond, and features showcases of some of the most exciting, funky young artists in the area.

Old Metairie has a more suburban feel than other neighborhoods nearby, and there aren't too many bars that stay open late. That being said, both Winston's and Oscar's are very popular neighborhood spots, both great places to get a drink and catch a Saints game on Sundays. There are also many excellent restaurants in town, including Café B, a Ralph Brennan restaurant, and Chateau du Lac Bistro.
